Efectos de la Suplementación con Vitamina D en Mujeres de Edad Fértil con Ovario Poliquístico y Resistencia a la Insulina: Revisión Sistemática

Resumen

La deficiencia de vitamina D se ha relacionado con afecciones crónicas como resistencia a la insulina (RI) y síndrome de ovario poliquístico (SOP). El objetivo de estudio fue determinar los efectos de la suplementación con vitamina D en mujeres de edad fértil con SOP y RI. Se realizó una revisión sistemática en la que se incluyeron estudios en inglés, en mujeres entre 20-40 años con diagnóstico de SOP y RI. Se excluyeron estudios en embarazadas, con menos de 50 participantes y con comorbilidades que afecten la síntesis de vitamina D. La búsqueda se realizó en PubMed, Wiley y Web of Science. El riesgo de sesgo se analizó con la herramienta de “evaluación de la calidad de los estudios de intervención controlados” del National Health Institute (NIH). A partir de 10 estudios y 5092 participantes se observó que los efectos de la suplementación de vitamina D mejora el metabolismo de la glucosa, disminuye la glucemia en ayunas, índice HOMA-IR y parámetros inflamatorios. Su efecto sobre nivel de testosterona, SHBG y perfil lipídico es controversial. Respecto a la dosis no existe consenso variando desde 1.000 a 50.000 unidades por semana, requiriendo mínimo 8 semanas de tratamiento.
