Resumen
La hepatitis A, causada por el virus HAV, es una infección que provoca inflamación del hígado y se transmite principalmente por la vía fecal-oral. Su prevalencia varía globalmente, siendo hiperendémica en ciertas regiones y menos común en países con economías más sólidas. Los síntomas incluyen fiebre, fatiga e ictericia, y el diagnóstico se realiza mediante la detección de anticuerpos anti-HAV. La prevención se basa en la mejora de condiciones sanitarias y la vacunación, que ha demostrado ser efectiva. Sin embargo, el alto costo de la vacuna puede limitar su implementación. Es crucial implementar medidas preventivas y educación sobre la enfermedad, especialmente en poblaciones vulnerables.
