Factores Asociados a Infecciones de Vías Urinarias en Pacientes con Catéter Urinario
Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar los factores asociados al desarrollo de infecciones de vías urinarias asociadas a catéter (ITU-CU) en pacientes ingresados en el servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital General de Zona No. 20 "La Margarita" durante el primer semestre de 2025. Materiales y métodos: Estudio analítico, comparativo de casos y controles, retrospectivo y transversal. Se analizaron los expedientes de 95 pacientes hospitalizados con sonda vesical instalada, divididos en 57 casos (con ITU-CU) y 38 controles (sin ITU-CU). Se aplicó estadística descriptiva e inferencial mediante las pruebas de Chi-cuadrada y exacta de Fisher para evaluar la asociación y el riesgo relativo indirecto (Odds Ratio). Resultados: La muestra presentó un ligero predominio masculino (51.58%) con una mediana de edad de 63 años. Al realizar el análisis bivariado, factores clásicos como el sexo femenino (OR = 0.44; IC 95%: 0.19-1.02; p = 0.086), las comorbilidades (OR = 0.96; p = 1.00) y el cateterismo prolongado mayor a 48 horas (OR = 1.00; p = 1.00) no demostraron una asociación estadísticamente significativa con el desarrollo de la infección. Conclusiones: No se logró rechazar la hipótesis nula en esta serie, sugiriendo una homogeneidad en el riesgo o efectividad estricta en las medidas protocolizadas de la institución.
