Perfil Clínico y Epidemiológico de Personas Mayores Hospitalizadas con Lesiones por Presión: Implicaciones para la Atención Gerontológica Integral
Resumen
Las lesiones por presión constituyen un problema prioritario de salud pública en las personas mayores debido a su asociación con la multimorbilidad, deterioro funcional y mayor riesgo de complicaciones hospitalarias. Objetivo: describir el perfil clínico y epidemiológico de personas mayores hospitalizadas con lesiones por presión. Metodología: estudio cuantitativo, observacional, descriptivo y transversal realizado en una muestra de 26 personas mayores, seleccionadas mediante un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia, considerando los criterios de inclusión: firma de consentimiento informado, tener 60 años o más, diagnóstico de lesión por presión y contar con valoración completa. Respetando los principios éticos en investigación se aplicó el cuestionario de Bates-Jensen Wound Assesment Tool (BWAT), instrumento validado para evaluar la gravedad y evolución de heridas. Resultados: la edad media fue de 77 años, predominó el sexo femenino (57.7%). Las principales comorbilidades fueron infección de vías urinarias (57.7%), hipertensión arterial (46.2%) y diabetes mellitus (38.5%). Los pacientes presentaron en promedio 3.6 LPP, localizadas principalmente en la región sacrococcígea (76.9%) y talones (69.2%). El 69.2% presentó lesiones de gravedad moderada a severa. Conclusiones: las personas mayores con lesiones por presión presentan elevada complejidad clínica caracterizada por multimorbilidad, múltiples lesiones y gravedad moderada a severa. Estos hallazgos respaldan la necesidad de fortalecer programas institucionales de detección temprana, prevención y atención integral, incorporando la valoración gerontológica integral y el trabajo interdisciplinario para preservar la funcionalidad y mejorar la calidad de la atención.
