Evaluación del dolor lumbar y sedestación prolongada en choferes profesionales
Resumen
El dolor lumbar es una de las causas principales de discapacidad y ausentismo laboral a nivel mnundial y representa un desafío para la salud ocupacional, especialmente en trabajadores expuestos a sedestación prolongada, vibraciones mecánicas y factores ergonómicos. El objetivo fue describir la frecuencia de dolor lumbar y niveles de sedestación prolongada en choferes profesionales del Servicio de Movilización de la Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG). Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, observacional de tipo descriptivo y transversal, con la participación de 60 choferes de ambos sexos, cuyas edades fueron entre 18 y 60 años. Se aplicó el Cuestionario Nórdico Estandarizado, la Escala Visual Analógica (EVA), el índice de Discapacidad de Oswestry (ODI), el Test de Schober modificado y la prueba dedos al suelo. La media en edad fue de 40,78 ± 10,86 años y la antigüedad laboral 10,57 ± 8,72 años. El 86,7% indicó antecedentes de dolor lumbar, el 81,7% presentó síntomas en los últimos 12 meses y el 43,3% en la ultima semana. El dolor moderado fue el predominante (38%), seguido del intenso (30%). Según el ODI, el 71,7% presentó discapacidad leve. La movilidad lumbar fue adecuada, mientras que el 76,7% fue moderada o limitada. De igual forma, el 60% presentó altos niveles de sedestación prolongada. Estos hallazgos refieren una alta frecuencia de dolor lumbar asociada a extensos periodos en sedestación, pese a que existe discapacidad funcional leve.
